Pre-Power Electrical Checks
Continuity Check (Optional but Recommended): Before reconnecting the battery, use a DMM to perform a continuity check between the battery negative terminal and the machine frame to ensure there is no short circuit.
Resistance to Ground Check: Set the DMM to resistance (Ohms). Check for a short to ground on major power wires (e.g., the wire from the battery to the starter) by placing one probe on the wire terminal and the other on the machine frame. There should be very high resistance (OL - Open Line), indicating no short circuit.
