Scheduled Maintenance (Every 250 - 500 Hours)
Cylinder Drift Test: This tests the health of the internal piston seals.
Curl the bucket fully into the dump position (cylinder fully extended).
Shut down the engine and carefully release hydraulic pressure in the bucket circuit (follow the operator's manual for safe procedures).
Place a reference mark or measure the exposed rod length.
Monitor the cylinder for 10-15 minutes.
Any significant retraction (drift) indicates that oil is leaking past the internal piston seals. This reduces efficiency, wastes energy, and is a clear sign that a rebuild is needed.
This 590-8057 bucket cylinder is used 374D 374F excavator.
