Secondary Functions and System Integration
Cooling Hydraulic System: While not part of the radiator itself, the hydraulic oil cooler is directly behind it in the same bundle. It uses the same air flow to cool the hydraulic fluid, which gets very hot from powering the excavator's movements, pumps, and attachments.
Protection: A large, reinforced mesh screen is mounted on the rear of the machine to protect the radiator core from large debris like rocks, branches, and dirt. However, fine dust and chaff can still accumulate and must be cleaned regularly.
System Monitoring: The 315D's advanced monitoring system constantly tracks coolant temperature. If the temperature rises beyond a safe threshold due to a clogged radiator, low coolant level, or a failed fan, the operator will be alerted via a warning icon or message on the monitor in the cab.
