Periodic Measurements:

Regularly measure the pin and bushing for wear. As the bushing wears, it allows the pin to move excessively, creating "play" or "slop" in the joint.
Check for axial movement (in-and-out movement of the pin) and radial movement (up-and-down play between the pin and bushing).
