The steering cylinder is a critical component of the Caterpillar 120H's hydraulic steering system. Its primary function is to convert hydraulic pressure into mechanical force to turn the front wheels. Unlike an automobile, a motor grader uses a hydraulic cylinder, or a pair of cylinders, to articulate the entire front frame. On the 120H, this is achieved through a single, double-acting steering cylinder that controls the articulation of the machine. Precise control of this cylinder is what allows for the fine, gradual turns necessary for grading operations.
This 130-9042 steering cylinder is used for 120H 140H 140K motor grader.
