Greasing (The Critical Defense):
Frequency: Grease more frequently than any other cylinder. While the manual might suggest every 10 hours, in severe applications (e.g., rocky conditions, demolition, mining), greasing every 8 hours or even daily is highly recommended.
Procedure: Use a high-quality, general-purpose lithium-based grease. Apply grease to the pin connections until clean grease purges out from the seals on both sides. This forces out the abrasive dirt and sand that are constantly present during digging and dumping, preventing them from grinding away the pin and bushing material. Worn bushings cause misalignment, which puts immense stress on the cylinder mounts and can lead to cracking or seal failure.
