Piston Rod Inspection: Inspect the entire exposed length of the chrome-plated rod for:
Scratches, Nicks, or Dings: These are the primary killers of rod seals. Any imperfection will act like a saw blade on the seals every time the cylinder retracts.
Corrosion or Pitting: Compromises the seal surface and leads to leaks.
Check for Physical Damage: The barrel of the bucket cylinder is extremely vulnerable to rock strikes, collisions with debris, and contact during truck loading. Look for dents, deep scratches, or deformed areas.
Hose and Fitting Inspection: Check the hydraulic hoses connected to the cylinder for cracks, abrasion, bulges, or any signs of wear. Ensure the fittings are tight and not leaking.
