Scratches, nicks, or gouges: Even a small defect can shred rod seals as the cylinder retracts.
Pitting or corrosion: This can damage seals and lead to leaks.
Bent rod: Although rare, a bent rod is a serious issue requiring immediate attention.
Check for Physical Damage: Look for dents on the cylinder barrel caused by impacts with rocks or other debris during operation.
Inspect Pin Bushings and Keepers: Ensure the pins are secure and that there is no excessive wear or play in the bushings where the cylinder mounts. Worn bushings create misalignment, putting extra stress on the cylinder mounts and seals.
