Connector Maintenance:
If corrosion is found, disconnect the battery and use an electrical contact cleaner and a soft brush to clean the terminals.
Ensure dielectric grease is applied in connectors if specified by Caterpillar (some come pre-greased). This prevents moisture ingress.

Wiring Repair (If Damage is Found):
Minor Damage: For a single cut or abraded wire, the proper repair is to cut out the damaged section and splice in a new wire segment using solder and heat-shrink tubing with a sealant lining. This creates a strong, waterproof connection. Avoid using simple crimp connectors without sealing, as they are prone to failure in this environment.
Major Damage: If the main trunk of the harness is severely damaged (multiple wires crushed or burnt), replacement of the entire harness section or the full harness is the recommended and safest course of action.
