Visual Inspection: Double-check that all connections are secure and the harness is properly routed and clamped.
* Reconnect Batteries: Reconnect the negative battery cable(s).
* Leak Check: Prime the fuel system by turning the key to ON for 30 seconds (without starting) to allow the fuel transfer pump to fill the system. Check for any fuel leaks around the injector connections.
* Diagnostic Tool: Connect the Cat ET diagnostic tool.
* Clear any existing injector-related diagnostic codes.
* Perform an "Injector Solenoid Test" (often found under "Diagnostics" or "Calibrations" in Cat ET). This test will electronically activate each injector solenoid one by one. You will hear a distinct click from each injector as it is activated. This verifies that the ECM signal is correctly reaching the injector through the new harness.
* Operational Test: Start the engine. Let it idle and listen for smooth operation without misfires. Use Cat ET to monitor engine parameters like engine speed and cylinder cutout to ensure all cylinders are firing correctly. Check for active diagnostic codes.
