ALWAYS Disconnect Power: Before performing any work on the harness, disconnect the negative battery cables at the master disconnect.
Follow the Schematic: Never guess. Always use the machine's specific schematic to identify the exact wire and connector contact.
Use Correct Repair Parts: Only use Caterpillar-approved wiring, connectors, seals, and repair sleeves. Incorrect parts compromise the environmental seal and electrical integrity.
Avoid Solder: Caterpillar's standard is to use crimped splices with heat-shrink sleeves that have an internal sealant. Soldering is generally not recommended as it creates a rigid point prone to fatigue failure in a high-vibration environment.
