The platform harness, also commonly referred to as the main or upper structure harness, is the central nervous system of the excavator's upper platform (the house). In the Caterpillar 345D, this extensive network of wires, connectors, and sensors is responsible for transmitting power, data, and signals between all major components located on the upper structure.
This includes connections to:
Main ECMs (Engine Control Module, Pump Control Module): The brains of the machine.
Monitoring System (in the cab: gauges, warning lights, LCD display).
Operator Input Devices: Joysticks, pedals, switches.
Solenoids: Controlling the main control valve for hydraulic functions.
Sensors: Engine speed (RPM), pressure sensors, temperature sensors, swing speed sensor, etc.
Cab Accessories: HVAC, radio, wipers, work lights.
