The platform harness, or main wiring harness, is the central nervous system of the Caterpillar 320C excavator. It is a complex network of wires, connectors, and conduits that runs throughout the machine's superstructure (the upper platform), connecting critical components to the operator's controls and the machine's central computers.
Power Distribution: It carries electrical power from the battery and alternator to all electrical components located on the upper platform, such as the engine control modules, pumps, sensors, cab accessories, and lighting.
Signal Transmission: It serves as the data highway for the machine's control systems. It transmits low-voltage command signals from the operator's joysticks, foot pedals, and switches in the cab to the main Electronic Control Module (ECM) and other controllers.
