Sealing System:

Rod Seal / Gland: A primary pressure-containing seal and a secondarywiper seal. The rod seal keeps high-pressure fluid in. The wiper seal is critical for excluding external contaminants like dirt, mud, and abrasives—the primary enemies of hydraulic cylinders.
Breather: The gland may include a breather port to allow air to escape during initial operation and prevent pressure build-up in the rod side of the cylinder.
