Hydro-Pneumatic Design:
The cylinder functions as a self-contained gas spring and hydraulic damper. It is pre-charged with high-pressure nitrogen gas (on one side of a floating piston) which acts as the spring medium. Hydraulic oil on the other side provides the damping force.
This design combines the smooth, progressive action of a gas spring with the precise controllability of hydraulic damping in a single, compact unit.
Oscillating Axle Integration:
The front suspension cylinders are linked across the axle. This allows the axle to oscillate, meaning one wheel can move upward independently of the other. This is crucial for maintaining traction and stability on extremely uneven and rocky haul road surfaces.
