Articulation (Frame Bending): The 775G uses articulated steering, meaning the entire machine pivots (articulates) at a central hinge point between the front and rear frames. The steering cylinders are mounted across this pivot point. When the operator turns the steering wheel, high-pressure hydraulic oil is directed to one side of the cylinders, causing the rod to extend or retract. This action physically pushes or pulls the front frame relative to the rear frame, bending the machine and changing its direction.
Force Generation: The truck is extremely heavy, especially when loaded (with a rated payload of 72 tons / 65 tonnes). Turning requires immense force to overcome inertia and ground resistance. The steering cylinders are designed with large bore diameters and powerful piston heads to generate the tremendous linear force needed to articulate the loaded truck, even at low speeds or on uneven ground.
