Regular Greasing (Lubrication)
Frequency: Follow the Caterpillar operator's manual, but a common practice is to lubricate the slewing bearing every 50 service hours or daily in severe, abrasive conditions (e.g., sand, dust, mud).
Procedure:
Clean the grease fittings (zerks) and the area around them thoroughly before attaching the grease gun.
Use the recommended type of grease (typically a high-quality, extreme-pressure (EP) lithium complex or polyurea grease).
Rotate the upper structure slowly and continuously while greasing. This ensures the grease is distributed evenly throughout the entire raceway.
Grease until the seal slightly bulges and clean, new grease is expelled from the seal lips. This purges old, contaminated grease and debris. Wipe away the excess.
