The main function of the aftercooler (also known as a charge air cooler) is to cool the compressed intake air after it leaves the turbocharger.
Air Compression by Turbocharger: The engine's turbocharger compresses the intake air, which significantly increases its density and pressure. However, this compression process also dramatically heats the air.
Cooling by Aftercooler: This hot, compressed air is then routed through the aftercooler. The aftercooler acts like a radiator for the intake air, transferring the heat from the air to the engine's coolant circuit.
Result: Denser, Cooler Air: By cooling the air, the aftercooler further increases its density. This allows a greater mass of oxygen to be packed into the combustion chamber for each cycle.
This 253-5369 aftercooler is used for D6R truck.
