Regular Cleaning (The Most Critical Routine Task)
Frequency: Daily in extreme conditions (e.g., road construction, demolition, agricultural work). Under normal conditions, clean at a minimum every 250 service hours or weekly.
Correct Method:
Stop the Engine: Always clean with the engine OFF.
Direction of Cleaning: Always blow air or rinse from the fan side (engine side) towards the front of the machine. This pushes debris out the way it came in. Cleaning from the front can force debris deeper into the fins, causing clogging.
Use Compressed Air: Use dry, compressed air at a pressure below 207 kPa (30 psi). Maintain a safe distance and wear safety glasses.
Use a Soft Bristle Brush: Gently loosen caked-on mud or dust before applying air or water.
For Washing: Use a low-pressure steam cleaner or garden hose. NEVER use a high-pressure washer, as it will irreversibly bend the delicate cooling fins, creating air blocks and permanently reducing cooling efficiency.
