Core Type - Fin-and-Tube (Typically): It is almost certainly a shell-and-tube or, more accurately for this application, a fin-and-tube heat exchanger. Hot hydraulic oil flows through a series of small tubes. Fins are attached to the outside of these tubes to dramatically increase the surface area for heat transfer. Ambient air, forced by a fan, passes over these fins, carrying the heat away.
Robust Construction Materials:
Tubes: Made from copper or aluminum for excellent thermal conductivity.
Fins: Typically made from aluminum for its light weight and high heat transfer capability.
Headers/Tanks: Often constructed from steel to provide strength and resist vibration.
Coolant Passages (if combined): On many models, the hydraulic oil cooler is physically bundled with the engine radiator and charge air cooler in a single module. This "stack cooler" design is efficient and compact. These sections use brass or aluminum for corrosion resistance.
This 521-5202 hydraulic oil cooler is used for 30 330GC 326GC C7.1 excavator.
