Intake Air Charge Cooling (Charge Air Cooler - CAC):
Component: An Air-to-Air Aftercooler (ATAAC) is integrated directly into the cooling package, typically in front of the engine radiator.
Function: It cools the hot, compressed air discharged from the turbocharger before it enters the engine's intake manifold.
Benefit: Cooling the intake air significantly increases its density. This allows for more oxygen in the combustion chamber, resulting in more powerful and complete combustion. This translates to increased engine power, lower fuel consumption, and reduced emissions (meeting Tier 4 Interim/equivalent standards).
