Physical Damage:
Bent Rod: Caused by a severe impact or misuse.
Scored or Pitted Rod: Caused by abrasive material getting past the wiper seal or exposure to corrosive environments (e.g., road salt).
Symptom: Visible damage and rapid destruction of any new rod seals installed. A bent rod will cause erratic and jerky operation.
