Daily/Pre-Shift Maintenance (Operator's Responsibility)
Visual Inspection for Leaks: Check the entire cylinder, especially the rod seal area (where the rod enters the barrel) and the hydraulic hoses and connections for any signs of oil leakage.
Piston Rod Inspection: Carefully examine the entire exposed length of the shiny piston rod for scratches, nicks, dings, or corrosion. Even a small scratch can damage the rod seal when it retracts, leading to a major leak. This is the most critical daily check.
Check for Physical Damage: Look for dents on the barrel or damage to the mounting pins and eyes.
Clean the Rod: At the end of the shift, use a clean cloth to wipe all dirt and moisture off the piston rod before retracting it fully. This simple act drastically extends seal life.
